Storyline and user Review:

Having come close to his dream of joining BBC as an Investigative reporter, Goutham, an Engineering graduate gets arrested by Police for having used counterfeit degree certificates to swindle a bank. With his career at stake, he decides to take on the counterfeiting racket mafia.

STRENGTHS:- * Drums Sivamani's powerful background score and Yappa song... * Atharva's rocking performance..... * Concept was different

WEAKNESSES:- * Weak Screenplay at many places.... * Catherine teresa doesn't know acting.... * Songs were boring and useless at few places.....

FINAL VERDICT:- * Overall... It is a clean one time watch movie, you can't say it is a thriller but trys, you will see many AR murugadoss touch in handling scenes but debutant director fails little bit in execution. First 25 mins is waste of time then movie starts and after interval it was very grippy, song comes like a speed breaker and spoils the exact flow.... this movie could be named as KO-2. Go for one time and enjoy.

Kanithan is an action thriller that throws light on the issue of fake certificates. Atharvaa and Catherine both play the role of journalists in the film and the story has been told via these characters. Director: T.N. Santhosh Writer: T.N. Santhosh Stars: Aadhira, Tarun Arora, Atharvaa

T N Santhosh makes his directorial debut with Kanithan, starring Atharvaa and Catherine Tresa. Produced by S Thanu, the film is a cliché ridden thriller packed with loads of action.

The protagonist Gowtham (Atharvaa) is on a mission to expose a dangerous fake educational certificate racket. Though an interesting premise, the uninspired writing and execution leave a lot to be desired.

The director takes 20 minutes to introduce his characters with drab comedy.

Gowtham is an investigative journalist, working for a small-time television network.

His certificates are sent for a routine police verification and suddenly he is caught in a dreadful nightmare.

He and a group of youngsters are arrested for forging degree certificates to get educational bank loans amounting to several crores. They are arrested and their certificates declared invalid, ending their professional careers.

Gowtham uses his investigative skills to find how this ingenious network has infiltrated every field, flooding the society with a sea of unqualified, untrained individuals masquerading as doctors, engineers, teachers and civil servants.

Butthe mastermind behind this network proves too clever for him. Their cat-and-mouse game adds a certain thrill to the narration, but for most part, the film is spoiled by predictable clichés.

Aadukalam Naren, who plays Atharvaa’s father and Manobala, his boss, have nothing to offer. Neither does director K Bhagyaraj, who appears briefly to offer timely advice.

Catherine Tresa is reduced to playing an annoying girlfriend who is nothing but trouble for Gowtham. After her more sedate roles in Madras and Kathakali, the pretty actress ups the glamour quotient here.

Karunakaran has an interesting role to play, but it is the good looking and extremely fit Atharvaa, who is perfectly cast. He is this angry young man, who gives a convincing performance, excelling especially in the fight sequences that have been cleverly choreographed. Tarun Arora makes a worthy opponent, adding a challenge and lending credibility to the enormity of the crime.

The background score by Drums Sivamani is too loud and dramatic, but the film is visually impressive. The racy thriller is punctuated by boring romance and mundane comedy. Director Santhosh seems determined to follow a set template with the required dose of action, romance, comedy, sentiments and songs with no thought to the flow of the narration.

Despite the compelling plot, Kanithan is an uninspired action thriller that has little to offer

Directed by Sudha Kongara who had made her directorial debut with Drohi in 2010, Irudhi Suttru is about Women’s Boxing in India at the broader spectrum, but is also about the struggles of a determined coach for whom the sport is his life.

There are many sport based films that come out every now and then which follows the trajectory of talent-struggle-triumph. But the challenge lies in turning this model into an interesting, engaging and entertaining product onscreen and in this domain, Sudha and her team emerges meritoriously. With an airtight screenplay, she keeps the audiences hooked to the proceedings throughout the duration they are in the theatre.

For a film to work favorably with the viewer, apt casting and performance are the key words and Irudhi Suttru can brag about this aspect well enough. Right from Madhavan to Ritika Singh to the supporting cast, everyone has rendered their best performances.

Madhavan as the much beefed up, talented, angry, ruthless coach Prabhu, is excellent. There are various layers to his characterization from being subtle to being outright effervescent. There are times when he is completely impotent in his rage and there are occasions when he is hopeful. He traverses the range with élan. It is unusual to see an Indian man wear the elopement of his wife as an adornment but when Maddy does that, it takes on a different hue!

It is not every day that a hero in Indian films, gives space to his co-star especially to a woman, but in Irudhi Suttru, Maddy does that with a lot of panache.  It is clearly Ritika Singh’s film and the girl is terrific whether she is angry or foul mouthed or hopelessly in love or completely charged. We only see the cantankerous, aggressive Madhie and the role fits Ritika like a glove. Her lip sync is flawless. Uma who has dubbed for her has done a great job.

Zero is a Indian Tamil-language fantasy horror film written and directed by Arun. The film features Ashwin Kakumanu and Sshivada in the leading roles, while JD Chakravarthy plays a pivotal supporting role.

A newly-wedded couple's domestic bliss is smashed to smithereens when the wife starts acting crazy. Has she become mentally unstable like her dead mother, or is there a sinister force at work?

Zero is a supernatural abstract tale of two lovers who struggle to be together. It rewrites Adam and Eve’s basic mythology and is a mix of reality and dreams. The intimate scenes between the lead couple deserve a mention while the groundwork gone into the story making tags along witkh it.

Gautham Menon’s voice-over for the mythological portions deserves a mention. The storyline transits between numerous worlds which becomes a little difficult to comprehend. Ashwin plays the role of a loving husband, who doesn’t want to let his wife down no matter what kind of hurdles the couple faces. He is smart, elegant and is custom made husband material. As a shy and dutiful housewife Sshivada is beautiful. Showcasing a wide range of emotions, she has delivered her best. JD Chakravarthy is a peripheral character and manages to make heads turn with his unique sense of humor, attitude and body language.

Nivas emerges triumphant with a beautiful background scores that try to not let down the narration. The lighting is subtle and soft. Cinematography by Babu Kumar has been done picturesquely while the everyday locations and casual costumes manage to capture attention. Nothing fancy and unfeasible which make the characters easy to relate with. The editor has done a decent job by mapping together real scenes that are heavily layered with CG work.

Talking about the universal symphony of love and hatred, this story also spotlights the connection between souls from physical intimacy. What’s confusing is the fact that it’s not entirely fictitious nor it is reality in general. The gear shifting may not go down well with the general audience. Each of its worlds is governed by independent rules and dynamics that stir confusion and restlessness. Leisurely paced screenplay is Zero’s other disadvantage.

Zero is a venture that is made with a lot of sensualism, religion and love. It deserves a watch for the efforts that the team has put into it. Though there are scenes wh
ere one might question the laws of science, the fictitious story overrides those questions.
